Mandolin practice coming along fairly well, got the basic Old Joe Clark memorized, along with a coulpe of major scales and 2-finger chords. Working on a couple of new tune, Devil's Dream, Worried Man Blues, Yankee Doodle, Wildwood Flower, Cripple Creek. Also getting started on hammer-ons, slides, and double-stops.

Got out trip settled for The Allman Brothers Band @ The Beacon Theater in NYC. Staying at the Beacon Hotel next door. Planning on reservations at Wylie DuFresne's WD-50 for dinner one night.

Trying to plan out a local show calendar, plenty of great music coming to Atlanta in 2011.

Picked up a guitar for Chris and a mandolin for myself. Figured out tuning it, I think, now just to break in the fingertips...pretty sore already, but lovin it so far.

Lots to pack in this weekend...Won tickets to see Chriss Isaak at Chastain, hoping for grate weather. Afterwards, heading to a birthday party at Ryan's. Got a 10 mile run to do Sunday morning, then cranking up the smoker for the rest of the day, having some cold ones and BBQ pork parts with Jim.

July 21, 2009: Feeling my long run from sunday

Noticing a few more sore spots in my legs from my 8 miles Sunday. Found www.dailymile.com yesterday, pretty nice site, well designed with some cool features. There's a few features I might look into for a project I am working on at ATC. I've added a widget to this page, I'll have to play around with a better placement or moving the full widget to my training calendar and placing some badges in global locations.

I did check my server logs yesterday and found my site has been indexed fairly well for "las vegas marathon 2009", made second page in searches on Google and Bing. Pretty cool!

July 20, 2009: Full weekend of Moe. and Ratdog

Decided Friday morning to get the weekend pass for Moe. and Ratdog at the Masquerade Music Park. Great Venue, first shows I've seen there, very nice intimate lawn show. So glad we went, great time was has and the music was spot on. I love technology! Picked up recordings of Moe. on 1gb thumb drives within 15 minutes of the show. Picked up Ratdoog discs from Saturday night, 3 of them. Ended up staying at the Hotel Palomar after the shows, really nice and new hotel, super friendly staff, and not a bad price. Enjoyed Mid City Cafe as well. Also got both of my scheduled runs in, including 8 miles yesterday. Great weather for an outdoor run, though need to monitor my pace, burned through the first 3 miles much quicker than I should have, though averaged about 10:10/miles. All in all, a great weekend.

July 9, 2009: Marathon training going great!

Half-way through week 2 and have logged all my scheduled miles, feeling good through them. Distances are picking up, 6 miles on Sunday, 5 miles yesterday, both long runs felt good. I may adjust the training schedule to synch up with Chris', which starts on the 20th. By then I should be at an ideal running weight for me of 165lbs.

July 6, 2009: New site being pulled together now!

A little at a time, I am re-writing my site, inspired by An Event Apart - Seattle that I attended earlier this year(and the fact that I haven't made any updates in nearly 3 years).
